I am working on a PhD in Journalism and English. My thesis is a historical novel based on the true story of a convict escape from Van Diemen's Land in 1833. My exegesis is an examination of Marcus Clarke's 1870s novel of convict life, His Natural Life and Jessica Anderson's 1975 novel, The Commandant, about Patrick Logan, the commander of the Moreton Bay penal colony. I am also a casual lecturer at La Trobe University in Melbourne, teaching journalism and online media production. My previous jobs have included working as a journalist for newspapers and magazines and writing and producing documentaries.
