Elisa Rizo is an Associate Professor of Hispanic Studies in the Department of World Languages and Cultures at Iowa State University. Her articles and interviews appear in various academic journals in the United States, Europe and Latin America, as well as in many collective volumes. She is committed to making Equatorial Guinean literature more accessible, therefore she has edited three anthologies: Caminos y veredas: narrativas de Guinea Ecuatorial (UNAM: Mexico City, 2011), Letras Transversales: obras escogidas de Juan Tomás Avila Laurel (Verbum: Madrid, 2012), and Crónicas de lágrimas anuladas: poesía y teatro de Recaredo Silebó Boturu (Verbum: Madrid, 2014). Additionally, Rizo has coedited two collective volumes: Guinea Ecuatorial como pregunta abierta: hacia el diálogo entre nuestras otredades (Revista Iberoamericana, 2014, with Lola Aponte) and Receptions of the Classics in the African Diaspora of the Hispanophone and Lusophone Worlds: Atlantis Otherwise (Lexington Books, 2016 with Madeleine Henry).
