Bio

I grew up in South Carolina & Georgia, was educated at the University of South Carolina (1981-85) & at Rutgers University (1985-2003). I taught for ten years at Western Michigan University (1993-2003) before moving to Kyoto, where I now teach at Doshisha University.

My publications include: "The Ordeal of Robert Frost" (Illinois, 1997); and, as editor, co-editor, or contributing editor, "Robert Frost: Poetry, Prose and Plays" (with Richard Poirier) (Library of America, 1995); "The Collected Prose of Robert Frost" (Harvard 2007); "The Letters of Robert Frost, Volume 1: 1886-1920" (Harvard, February 2014), "Robert Frost in Context" (Cambridge, April 2014); "The Letters of Robert Frost, Volume 2: 1920-1928" (Harvard, 2016); and "The Cambridge Companion to American Poets" (2016). Forthcoming in 2019 (as author): "The Wings of Atalanta: Essays Written Along the Color Line" (Camden House).
