I’m a fourth year doctoral student in Comparative Literature at UT Austin, working with Nineteenth-century French and Twentieth-Century Caribbean literature and print culture. I am interested in the intersection of animality and gender, particularly the ways in which writers use beast rhetoric to engage with questions of self and “other” in the context of national identity formation.
