Bio

Hilda Chacón is a Professor of Latin American literature and culture at Nazareth College, Rochester, NY. She has a first career as a journalist and she has experience in print media, coverage for news agencies, as well as in radio and TV production. As a scholar she has researched and published about uses of cyberspace in Latin America, political cartoons in cyberspace, US-Mexico cultural exchanges in the global era, and gender issues in post-war Central America. She was President of Northeast Modern Language Association, NeMLA (2017) and President of Feministas Unidas (FemUn) an MLA-allied organization. She was also elected as an MLA delegate for the state of New York (2019-2023). Her edited volume, Online Activism in Latin America (Routledge 2018) will be available at MLA 2019 Exhibit Hall.
