441: Rethinking the Southern Matriarch II

10:15 AM–11:30 AM Saturday, Jan 5, 2019 (US - Central)

Hyatt Regency - Randolph 1

Session Information

Description: This working group seeks to recover the Southern matriarch by exploring her contributions to Southern culture across three centuries in historical documents, the neoslave narrative, Great Migration narratives, and post-Katrina novels. Our goal is to show how race, gender, sexuality, and disability contribute to our understandings of Southern matriarchs and thus spark a new set of scholarly conversations on motherhood.

For the other meeting of the working group, see 184.
