524: Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy: A Critical Conversation

1:45 PM–3:00 PM Saturday, Jan 5, 2019 (US - Central)

Hyatt Regency - Roosevelt 1

Session Information

Description: Panelists host an urgent conversation about the latest in inclusive teaching, culturally sustaining pedagogy (CSP). CSP “seeks to perpetuate and foster—to sustain—linguistic, literate, and cultural pluralism,” as a couple of the founders, Django Paris and H. Samy Alim, have explained. How can we center students’ experiences, literacies, knowledges, and lifeways to prevent their practices from being erased through college?
