Session Information
Description: This interdisciplinary and transnational session focuses on early modern women’s textual, visual, and performative engagements with epic conventions; women’s strategies for representation or self-representation in the genre; and generic innovations in manuscript, print, and paint. Panelists consider writings by Christine de Pizan, Moderata Fonte, Lucrezia Marinella, and Hester Pulter; and English translations of the epic and female readership.
